Your hun
So I stopped at McDonald's on the way to work last week. The mid-20s aged girl working the drive-thru window was very nice with a slight Southern accent. She referred to me once as "hun" and once as "sweetheart" as just colloquial social informal titles--common in the rural south. According to the feminists (and recently, specifically Ashley Judd, who damn near popped a nipple because an airport employee referred to her as "sweetheart" as a matter of habit in a friendly exchange), apparently I should be offended and feel belittled, sexualized, and insulted by this McDonald's cashier. Well, I DON'T. She was nice, pleasant, and friendly. I don't know if she was flirting or not, but it doesn't matter. I'll take a genial, smiling, complimentary, casual title of endearment over a rigid, socially crippled, formal title of "sir" ANY DAY!
