On June 1st, 2013, it was a quiet night in Jackpot, NV when my host at Cactus Petes asked my girlfriend & I if we wanted to catch Molly Hatchet's gig in their showroom. Neither of us were "fans" of the band nor big into southern rock. It wasn't the best concert I've seen, but it turned out to be the most surprising. The reason was mostly because of their precision. The Gala venue is a tiny showroom that affords no mistakes. They nailed it, song after song. My expectations are usually pretty low regarding aging bands that have relegated themselves to the casino and county fair circuits. Molly Hatchet's show with Hlubek on guitar was a wonderful surprise.
