Lost virtue

Anyone else remember watching football games on TV and enjoying the sporting event without the pall of political bullshit and self-righteous protestation?  Oh, it's happened in the past, but was thankfully condemned as an inappropriate venue for personal agendas and was fortunately short-lived.  Today it seems that players and announcers feel entitled to use their profession as a personal platform for whatever issue has pissed in their Wheaties.  Apparently professionalism is a lost virtue.
