Public breastfeeding. I'm of mixed opinions, though I lean towards "who cares...if you don't like it, don't look." I will say that the fanatic opponents who find it "offensive" are a bunch of uptight prudes who probably need to get laid. There is nothing offensive about it. However, I'm not on-board with the proponents' argument that it is "a natural biological function" and therefore should be socially acceptable. Nose-picking, masturbating, scratching, sneezing, farting, and grooming are all natural functions. I have no problem with those "natural" functions being relegated to less social environments. Socially acceptable mannerisms and courtesies have a valuable place and help maintain harmony. Where those limits lie are determined by society itself. They are also fluid and evolve. I can sympathize with folks who don't like seeing someone picking their nose, fondling their junk, getting their boob sucked, or other personal bodily functions in public. I don't think a person is wrong to dislike those visions. BUT, if I had to come down on a position, disliking something is not grounds enough to prohibit it. If you want to whip out a titty and feed your urchin--as long as you aren't squirting mama juice on me--I say go for it. If it's not a sight I care to watch, it takes virtually zero energy to look away. Not to mention, a quiet little baby munching on a nipple is MUCH less annoying than the batshit crazy mother screaming at her hellish offspring as they terrorize the supermarket.
